Soft Skil Geografi UMS 2013

Yesterday, 21December 2013, the 18 extraordinary students of Geography Faculty, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta took part on effective presentation workshop. This session was delivered by Jumadi and Aditya Saputra. Jumadi deliver several facts about presentation, while Aditya Saputra presented about how to make effective presentation and presentation with impact. That was impresive moment for presenter and auidiens to discuss further about the presentation. Adit said that every little thing extra can make extraodinary presentation and it is important to recognize who your audiens in every single presentatios. Therefore, you will won every presentation.

Identification of Spatial Data Requirements for Lahars Disaster Management Information System

After the 2010 eruption of Merapi, some areas at Sleman regency experienced with lahars disaster. Many agencies have their own responsibility to overcome the problems in collaborative work. Nevertheless, it is lack of spatial/GIS data support on their decision making as well as on their communications. The main objective of this research was to identify and develop geodatabase to support collaborative lahars disaster management especially for response and recovery phase of the impact on infrastructures at Sleman Regency. Questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were used to investigate their need of the spatial data and the data availability. The results showed that all decision makers from selected agencies agreed that spatial data is important in their communication. Unfortunately, they are realized that it is practically very limited and not adequate to fulfill their need. Accordingly, several data requirements were identified in this research.

AsiaGeospatialForumIncreasing demand of freshwater and unreliable freshwater quality are main issues that urge sustainable groundwater use. A continuous effort to maintain the sustainability of groundwater use and supply is through careful groundwater management, which takes into account diverse regional components, including physical-environmental and human-related factors. The establishment of regional database embracing wide aspect of regional components and automated administering protocol to control groundwater use serve as a tool for this management objective. This study aims at developing web-based Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) to satisfy this database and administering necessity.

LANDSAT IMAGERY OF LANGKOWALA AREA The eastern part of Sulawesi and its surrounding area comprise: continental fragments, the Eastern Sulawesi Ophiolite Belt (as oceanic fragments) and molasse sediments (named Sulawesi Molasse). These continental and oceanic terranes had collided each other during latest Oligocene – Middle Miocene times and than they are covered by the Sulawesi Molasse.
