Thursday (19/08) afternoon, the Faculty of Geography, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) held a Socialization of the Independent Learning Conversion of the Independent Campus (MBKM) through a Zoom Meeting. This activity is intended to provide information to students regarding the conversion flow of MBKM credits.
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Jumadi, encouraged students to take part in various activities outside the study program or university. Various activities that can be taken include internships, study outside the university, humanitarian activities, research activities, and so on. Jumadi emphasized that the activities taken by students must be relevant. “Students may take any activity, but they must refer to the learning outcomes that we have set,” said Jumadi.
The same thing was conveyed by Deputy Dean 1 Aditya Saputra. “It doesn’t mean that students who take part in MBKM are immediately converted, but we’ll see the suitability of the courses first,” explained Aditya, who also serves as Chair of the Geography Study Program. For the application for MBKM credit conversion, students can fill in online via the link https://bit.ly/konversinilaiMBKM. Later the Deputy Dean 1 will approve before the conversion value comes out. The subjects that can be converted are Population Geography (2 credits), Indonesian Regional Geography (2 credits), Tourism Geography (2 credits), Life Skills and Geographic Information System Web (2 credits), Industrial Geography (2 credits), Planning and HR Development (2 credits), and Map Production Management (2 credits). In addition, the duration of the internship for a teaching campus of 6 months is converted up to 10 credits. While the internship is 3 months, the conversion is up to 6 credits. (*)
