History

The Faculty of Geography, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta was established in 1983/1984 in order to meet the need for experts in the field of Geography based on a spatial, environmental, and regional complex approach. The scientific competence of the Faculty of Geography, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta has been recognized as can be seen in the development of the status of the implementation of academic activities. In 1993, the Faculty of Geography, Muhammadiyah University, Surakarta, was recognized for the status of organizing academic activities with the status of Equalized. With this status, the Faculty of Geography, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta has the right to organize educational activities with full confidence from planning to evaluating teaching and learning activities independently. Recognition of the competence of the Faculty of Geography, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta standardized with Accredited status starting in 1998. The results of this accreditation indicate that the Faculty of Geography, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta has been declared capable and trustworthy by the community in producing experts who are capable of conducting spatial and regional studies.
