Journals are one of the important instruments for geographers to publish their work. Therefore, the existence of a journal is very important and vital. However, journals with high-quality geography subjects are still minimal and do not accommodate the large number of IGI members. Good governance is the key to journal quality. So far, the quality of governance is reflected in the accreditation status of journals and the reputation of journal indexing institutions. Accreditation status is an acknowledgment of the quality of journals nationally, while the reputation of the indexing agency reflects the internationalization of journals. So far, only 1 journal among IGI members has been indexed by a reputable indexer, namely IJG (Geography UGM) and no journal has yet achieved A accreditation. In order to improve the quality and reputation of the journal. It is necessary to conduct quality governance training for FORPIMGEO member journal managers throughout Indonesia.
The main objective of this workshop is to improve the quality of the management of geographic journals. The specific objectives of this workshop are (1) to provide an understanding of journal management in accordance with national accreditation standards, (2) to provide tips, tricks and strategies to capture and manage quality manuscripts, and (3) to provide intensive tutorials on how to use the Open Journal System. (OJS) as an e-journal management platform.
