OLKENAS 2025: National Earth Science Olympiad – A Platform for Youth to Achieve in Earth Science

The Faculty of Geography, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), proudly presents OLKENAS 2025 (National Earth Science Olympiad), a prestigious academic competition for high school students (SMA/SMK/MA) across Indonesia. OLKENAS aims to raise awareness and understanding of earth sciences among the younger generation while enhancing their academic skills in geography, geology, and environmental science.

OLKENAS 2025 features three main competitions that participants can join:

1. Earth Science Quiz Competition (CC-K)

This competition tests participants’ knowledge of geography, geology, meteorology, climatology, and environmental science. Teams of two will compete in several rounds, from the preliminaries to the final, to win the championship.
Format: Online selection and offline final at UMS.

2. Earth Science Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI-K)

Participants will write and present a scientific paper on the theme “Geographical Exploration: Finding Solutions for the Earth”. This competition is designed to develop research and presentation skills.
Format: Online paper selection and offline final presentation at UMS.

3. Video Competition

Participants must create a short, creative video with the theme “Geographical Exploration: Finding Solutions for the Earth”. This competition encourages creativity while delivering an educational message to the public.
Format: Online submission (deadline April 15, 2025), with winners announced on April 26, 2025.

Video Competition Rules

  • Participants must follow @geografiums.official on social media.
  • The video must be a maximum of 60 seconds (1 minute).
  • The video must not contain elements of SARA (ethnic, religious, racial, or intergroup issues).
  • The video becomes the property of the organizing committee.
  • The jury’s decision is final and cannot be contested.
  • The committee will upload the video on the Reels of Instagram @geografiums.official.
  • The video must credit “Video Competition of the Faculty of Geography, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta”.

Video Judging Criteria

  1. Relevance to the Theme
  2. Content Creativity
  3. Originality
  4. Video Complexity
  5. Most viewers, likes, and comments on UMS Geography’s Instagram account

OLKENAS 2025 Timeline

  • Supervisor Registration Form Submission: February 10 – April 16, 2025, via ums.id/FormMinatOLKENAS2025.
  • Registration Form Deadline: April 17, 2025.
  • Technical Meeting: April 19, 2025, online via Zoom Meeting.
  • Offline Final Round: April 26, 2025, at UMS for CC-K and LKTI-K.
  • Video Competition Winners Announcement: April 26, 2025.

Winners of OLKENAS 2025 will receive:
