The Faculty of Geography at UMS has announced the successful procurement of two advanced drones, a step aimed at enhancing the quality of UAV-based Remote Sensing courses. This procurement was fully funded by the Independent Campus Competency Program in 2023.

The acquisition process, conducted through an auction by the Independent Campus Competency Program team at UMS, was successfully completed by PT Nusa Multi Teknika (Bengkel Drone) on August 21, 2023. The handover ceremony was attended by several key individuals, including Muhammad Rahadian Bamadih, ST, director of PT Nusa Multi Teknika; Supriyadi from the University Assets Bureau at UMS; and Aditya Saputra, head of the Geography study program at UMS, along with the UMS PKKM goods and services procurement team.

The two drones procured are:
1. DRONE NUSATECH 90 LIDAR DAN NIR INFRA RED PPK GNSS – This drone is equipped with LiDAR and Near-Infrared (NIR) technology, as well as a GNSS PPK system, enabling highly accurate measurements.
2. Drone – NIVO VTOL Long Range V2 for Mapping with Software Equator Plot – Designed for long-range mapping, this drone comes with Equator Plot software, simplifying the mapping process.

It is hoped that the addition of these drones will enrich the learning material at the Faculty of Geography, especially in the practice of UAV-based remote sensing. Moreover, this technology will open up new opportunities for research and development in the fields of geography and the environment.
