The series after series of commemorations of the 59th Anniversary of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) continue to be carried out. This time, we have stepped on the event that has been eagerly awaited by the UMS academic community, namely the healthy walk. This event begins with the starting point in the field of the Faculty of Psychology UMS and ends at the entrance gate of the Siti Walidah Main Building, Sunday (5/11/2017).
The route that is passed on this healthy road is quite long. Starting from the field of the Faculty of Psychology towards Menco, then from there it was continued again towards Assalam Hypermart. There the participants then started exchanging raffle tickets for shopping coupons worth 40 thousand rupiah. After that the participants continued their journey to the south gate of the Siti Walidah UMS Main Building, and there were waiting for consumption to accompany them to rest.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. dr. EM Sutrisna, M.Kes as the head of the committee in the healthy walk revealed that there were various series of events for the 59th UMS Anniversary. Among them there are health education, mass treatment, various sports competitions, healthy walks, and a People’s Party in the form of a Shadow Puppet Show.
“This UMS Anniversary series has several activities, including health education, mass treatment, several sports competitions, and healthy walks. Then on December 9, God willing, we will also hold a people’s party in the form of a puppet show and collaborate with the theater about the history of the establishment of UMS,” he said.
He also added that in addition to these agendas, there would also be an inauguration of the UMS New Mosque. “And perhaps part of the highlight of the UMS Anniversary is the inauguration of the new UMS Mosque, the Soedalmiyah Mosque,” he said.
There are quite a lot of participants from this healthy walk agenda, around 7000 participants. This was also stated by the Chancellor of UMS, Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si, that more than 7000 participants took part in this hike. Even UMS has also printed 8000 t-shirts intended for the academic community and their families, then students, and invited guests, but this number is still lacking.
“According to the records given to me, there are more than 7000 participants for this healthy walk. We print 8000 t-shirts, so it’s not only 7000, because each member of the family who is troubled is not only one or two, but may bring other family members,” he said in his remarks. which he gave.
In addition, this healthy walking activity was also marked by entertainment in the form of singing songs presented by My Band UMS. Then there were about 59 booths that also enlivened this event. And dozens of door prizes were also distributed in the form of tens of consolation prizes, 28 bicycles, 2 refrigerators, and 2 Honda motorcycles.
At the end of his speech, the Chancellor of UMS also expressed his gratitude to all participants who participated in enlivening this event. “I thank the entire community, especially in the leadership components of Muhammadiyah Branches and Branches, and the academic community who joined together to enliven one of the healthy walking agendas,” he concluded.
