General Lecture with Adipandang Yudono

On Friday, June 23, 2023, the Faculty of Geography organized a General Lecture with the theme “The Future of Geography through the Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data.” The event was conducted online through the Zoom Meeting platform and attended by members of the academic community from various batches at the Faculty of Geography, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.

The speaker for this event was Adipandang Yudono, S.Si., M.URP., Ph.D, a Lecturer in the Department of Regional and Urban Planning, Universitas Brawijaya. In this general lecture, he discussed how AI, IoT, and Big Data technologies have significantly impacted the field of Geography and unlocked great potential for advancing knowledge and gaining deeper insights into geographic phenomena.

During his presentation, Adipandang elaborated on how the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in geospatial analysis has improved data processing efficiency and provided profound insights into complex interactions between various phenomena in nature. Additionally, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) allows real-time collection of geographic data from diverse sources, delivering more accurate information about environmental and regional dynamics.

Notably, Big Data was also a major focus of the lecture. Adipandang explained that leveraging Big Data technology enables the storage and analysis of vast amounts of geographic data swiftly and efficiently. This empowers Geography researchers and practitioners to comprehend patterns and trends on a global scale in ways previously unimaginable.
