The Faculty of Geography at Muhammadiyah University in Surakarta organized a webinar with the theme “Sharpening Writing Skills in Geography and Other Fields for Teachers, as well as Introducing Geography Research Tools to Students.” This event took place through the Zoom Meeting platform, starting from July 29th to August 5th, 2023, as a collaborative effort between the Faculty of Geography at Muhammadiyah University in Surakarta, MGMP Geography Boyolali, MGMP Geography Blora, and PGRI Lampung Timur.
The purpose of this webinar is to provide teachers with a deeper understanding of various essential aspects of writing in the field of geography and other disciplines. The event also features experienced speakers who specialize in different aspects of writing and research in geography. Some of the speakers who participated in this event are:
- Drs. Priyono, M.Si – He provided insights into writing techniques in newspapers, helping teachers understand effective ways to convey geographical information through mass media.
- Agus Anggoro S, M.Sc – With expertise in writing poetry, Agus Anggoro S shared creative tricks for writing poetry, connecting the art of poetry with geography.
- Dr. Choirul Amin, M.M – In this session, Dr. Choirul Amin discussed the creation of Classroom Action Research (PTK) in geography, inspiring teachers to conduct small research projects beneficial for classroom learning.
- Aditya Saputra, Ph.D – Aditya Saputra discussed the process of writing scientific articles in journals, helping teachers understand the important stages and quality requirements for scientific writing.
- Yuli Priyana, M.Si – Yuli Priyana provided guidance on writing geography teaching materials, a crucial skill that supports the learning process.
- Jumadi, Ph.D – In the final session, Jumadi covered the technique of writing Literature Reviews, helping participants understand the significance of literature reviews in the research process.
The webinar aims to have a positive impact on improving the quality of writing and research in the field of geography. Additionally, cross-institutional collaboration is expected to be continuously enhanced for the development of education in our country.
