Faculty of Geography in the 2019 Chancellor’s Report

During the 2018-2019 period, the Faculty of Geography made quite rapid progress. The main achievement of this faculty is that in 2019 the Faculty of Geography UMS received an A accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN PT). In addition, specifically, the Faculty of Geography has made several advances, including in the fields of human resources (HR), research, collaboration, and community service. In the field of HR, the Faculty of Geography was strengthened by the graduation of 4 lecturers from doctoral programs both abroad and within the country. From abroad, namely Aditya Saputra, PhD and Jumadi, PhD. While those from within the country are Dr. Muhammad Musiyam, MTP and Dr. Choirul Amin, MM. The Faculty of Geography has also recruited 4 new lecturers, both foreign and domestic graduates. The expertise of the lecturers of the Faculty of Geography is also increasingly recognized internationally, namely Aditya Saputra, PhD who was invited as a keynote speaker at the University of Kobe and Sultan Idris Universiti Pendidikan (UPSI); Jumadi, PhD was invited to be a reviewer of several reputable international journals such as Natural Hazards, Applied Sciences, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, and received a Gilbert F. White award from the American Association of Gegraphers specializing in Hazard, Risk. and Disasters. In the field of research in the past year, the Faculty of Geography has produced 6 articles in reputable international journals (indexed Scopus) and produced 13 certificates of Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI). As for cooperation, the Faculty of Geography has signed more than 15 Cooperation Agreements with domestic and foreign institutions in the past year. From within the country with various communities of Geography Subject Teacher Consultation (MGMP) in Java, while from abroad, namely from the University of Kobe, Japan and the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Malaysia. The Faculty of Geography has also excelled in the field of community service by making and submitting village maps to hundreds of villages in Central Java and educating the public in science and religiosity through mass media articles.
