Scientific Monthly Discussion with Dr. Irfan Budi Pramono, M.Sc

Thursday (26/12), the Faculty of Geography, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta held a Monthly Scientific Discussion. Located in the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Geography, this Monthly Discussion carries the theme “Sustainable Watershed Management Model”. Presenting speaker Dr. Irfan Budi Pramono, M.Sc, the discussion lasted for two hours with the audience from Lecturers, Students and Laboratory Assistants. In his discussion, Dr. Irfan Budi said that watershed management is a human effort to regulate the reciprocal relationship between natural resources and humans in the watershed and all its activities, in order to realize the sustainability and harmony of the ecosystem and increase the use of natural resources for humans in a sustainable manner (PP No. 37 of 2012). In addition, the objectives of watershed management are: realization of optimal water management (quantity, quality, and continuity of flow) the realization of productive and sustainable land conditions the realization of an increase in the welfare of the community Watershed management must be sustainable because it considers the following: Inconsistent government policies Poor institutional arrangements and coordination Inadequate local organization and support Insufficient funds Improper technology (World Bank. 1990, FAO. 1991, Sheng. 1991) The full discussion material can be downloaded here.
