The Faculty of Geography at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) successfully held its second graduation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year at Sala View Hotel. In a warm yet modest event, 70 graduates celebrated their academic achievements and took a significant step toward their futures.
In his opening speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Jumadi, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D, expressed his pride in the graduates’ accomplishments. “You have overcome countless challenges to reach this point. Use the knowledge you’ve gained as a foundation to make meaningful contributions and bring positive change wherever you go,” he said with great enthusiasm.
Inspiring Words from an Alumna
One of the most memorable moments was a motivational speech by alumna Anggun Deristani, S.Si., M.Sc., who is currently pursuing her doctoral degree at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). She shared her journey, full of ups and downs, leading her to achieve the highest level of education.
“Success doesn’t come overnight. It requires effort, prayer, and the courage to explore new opportunities. Never be afraid to dream big and trust the process,” she advised, earning a resounding applause from the graduates.
Special Recognitions
This graduation ceremony also highlighted special recognitions for individuals who have left a lasting impression on the students. Hamim Zaky Hadibasyir, M.GIS., was named the most favorite lecturer, while Dyah Widowati, S.KM., was chosen as the most favorite administrative staff member. These awards reflect the appreciation for their dedication and contributions to student success.
A Memorable Farewell
Representing the graduates, Fito Reyhantara and Anwar Bayu Priyanto delivered heartfelt messages. “Though we will part ways, the memories and struggles we shared at the Faculty of Geography will always remind us of our collective journey. Let’s stay connected and continue to support each other,” they said, striking a chord with their fellow graduates.
The event concluded with the presentation of a commemorative plaque, symbolizing the enduring bond between the faculty and its alumni. Although families were not present, the ceremony remained a meaningful and memorable day for the graduates.
